Lady Bulldogs Get Back on Track Against Watertown

RBS Senior Layce Colter took several hard thumps during the January 4th, game against Watertown. One crash resulted in a leg injury of a Purple Lady Tiger, who had to be carried out for treatment before the game’s end. Congratulations to Layce Colter and Mackenzie Painter for being named to the Nera White All-Tournament team.

The  Red Boiling Springs High School Lady Bulldogs hosted Watertown for their first District 8A opponent of 2011 and was able to improve their record to 17-2 after defeating the Lady Tigers with a final score of 58-39.

The Lady Bulldogs kept Watertown under attack from the opening jump, leading 17-7 after the first round.

The first quarter score was achieved with six points from Layce Colter, five points from Marina Evans, a three-point play from Heather Jenkins, two free-throws from Morgan Burgener, and a free-throw from Mackenzie Painter.

In the second quarter, Red Boiling Springs continued to pour on the heat, leading 31-13 by the halftime break.

The second quarter score was achieved on points made by Layce Colter with seven, Morgan Burgener, Marina Evans, and Mackenzie Painter with two each, and one shot from Heather Jenkins.

By the end of the third quarter, the Lady Tigers were trailing Red Boiling Springs 44-26.

Coach White substituted several Lady Bulldogs into the game, before winning the challenge by a final score of 39-58.

Layce Colter led the team to victory with 18 points, followed by Marina Evans with 13 points, Morgan Burgener with nine points, Heather Jenkins with seven points, Mackenzie Painter with four points, Katie Hix with three points, and Kalisha Lynch and Mayson Burgener with two points each.

With the win, the Lady Bulldogs improved their record to 17-2 for the season. RBS will host Friendship Christian on January 11, 2011.
