Lady Bulldogs Down The Lady Feet of Webb School 73-43, Bulldogs Win 63-46

The Red Boiling Springs High School Basketball teams held their 2011 Basketball Homecoming Celebration on Friday, January 28, with two challenges against the Webb School from Bell Buckle, Tennessee.

In the girls game… The Red Boiling Springs Lady Bulldogs exploded the first quarter with a 19-5 advantage over the Lady Feet, and before the halftime break, RBS had acquired a 20-point lead, 42-22. RBS doubled their advantage in the third quarter by a score of 66-29. In the final round, the Lady Feet nailed three 3-point shots, before the RBS Lady Dawgs sent them back home with a 73-43 defeat.

Layce Colter scored 26 points and made five 3-pointers to lead Red Boiling Springs (20-4) past Webb (9-10), followed by Heather Jenkins with 14 points, Morgan Burgener with 13 points, Mackenzie Painter with seven points, Marina Evans and Katie Hix with four points each, Kelsey Jenkins with one 3-point shot, and Kaitlyn McCarter with two points.

In the boys game… The challenge was close throughout the first quarter, with RBS leading 17-13 over the Feet, and by the halftime break, the Bulldogs had acquired a 32-19 advantage. The Feet were unable to return in the last half of the game, with Red Boiling Springs dominating the third quarter 47-31, before winning their 17th game with a final score of 63-46.

Wes Grace led the team with 28 points, including four 3-pointers, followed by Andrew Mullinix with 11 points, including two 3-pointers, Jordan Meador with ten points including three 3-pointers, Shelton Watson with eight points, Jordan Grace with four points, and Aaron Francis with two points.

Red Boiling Springs will travel to Friendship Christian on February 1st, and will host the F.C. Commanders on Feb. 3 for two District 8A challenges. RBS is also scheduled to host Pickett County on Friday, Feb. 4, 2011.
