MCHS Qualifies Two for State A-AA Track Meet

On Thursday May 19th, 2011 two young ladies from MCHS qualified for the A-AA State Track Meet to be held in Murfreesboro.  The strong showing, due in part two these two, helped propel the ladies from Macon County to a 4th place finish as a team in the middle Tennessee section meet at David Lipscomb High School.

  Freshman Katie Swindle finished 3rd in the 3200 m run. Following her win in the Sub-Sectional the last week, Swindle lowered her time in the final to run a 12:31:99 and finish 3rd in the Middle TN Section. She will now get to compete against other competitors from the East and West Section finals at the state meet.

  Junior Katelyn Bean qualified to compete at state in the discus throw. Bean threw the frisbee-like object 100’03” and finished 2nd in the Middle TN Section, which gives her an automatic bid into the fianls at the state meet.

  Other MCHS prepsters competed in the sectional finals. Michaela Thompson competed in the discus, Terra Pryor in the 3200m, Andrew Emberton in the 3200m, Terra Pryor in the 1600m, and the 4x800m girls relay team of Victoria Booth, Mackenzie Painter, Pryor, Swindle, Jasmine Chaparro, and Casandra Wilson.

  The TSSAA State Meet is held at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro. Swindle is set to run at the Blue Raider track on Wednesday the 25th at 7 PM in the 3200m race. Bean will throw the discus on Thursday the 26th at 10:15 AM in the A-AA finals. Good luck to both of these two at state!
