MCHS Girls Finish Strong at State Meet
The Macon County High School Girls Track team had a strong showing at the TSSAA A-AA State Track and Field Meet this week. Freshman Katie Swindle and Junior Katelyn Bean both represented their school well.
Junior Katelyn Bean finished third in the discus. She threw for a personal best and new school record of 110’ 1” in the event. She breaks the old MCHS school record set by Casey Stinson who also won the event in the 2001 meet.
Freshman Katie Swindle ran hard in her first appearance at the state level. She finished the 3200m run in 12:44.14, finishing fifth. She was also the only 9th grader to place in the top eight positions. As a team MCHS finished 21st out of 42 female teams.
Swindle and Bean are the 22nd and 23rd athletes from MCHS to appear at the state level and are the first two female Macon County athletes to appear in the same meet.
