MCJHS Opens Season with Win

The Macon County Jr. High Tigers won big in their home/
season opener against Cannon County Middle School.
The Tigers scored
three times in the opening quarter and added two more TD’s in the 2nd
to make the halftime score 34-0. Coming
out of halftime the Tigers picked up where they left off by putting 14 more
points on the board by the end of the 3rd quarter. There was no scoring in the 4th
qtr. The final score was 48-0. Leading the way offensively for the Tigers rushing:
Chris Mickle 8 carries 64 yards 2TD, Gene Carman 3 carries 54 yards 1TD, Daniel
Holland 3 carries 1 yard 1TD, Logan Grace 2 carries 69 yards 2TD, Tanner
Lowhorn 2 carries 27 yards, Jason Sewell 2 carries 5
yards, Bailey Law 1 carry 23, and Peyton Delp 1 carry 4 yards. Passing: Grace 1 for 1 15 yards, Holland 1
for 1 19 yards. Receiving: Bailey Law 1 catch 19 yards, Troy Pemberton 1
catch 15 yards. The Tigers had 12 first
downs and 281 yards of total offense, 0 turnovers and only 1 penalty for 5
yards.
The Tiger defense looked just as impressive as the offense
allowing only 36 yards and 4 first downs to the Lions. Mickle had 5 tackles and 2 sacks. Sewell 5
tackles, Dalton York 2 tackles, Law also had an interception returned for a
TD.
The MCJH Tigers will be in action again this week at home
taking on Smith County Junior High owls.
This should be a good test for the Tigers so come on out to Pat Parker
Field Tuesday at 6:30 to cheer them to victory.
