Macon Jr High falls to Owls

The Owls of Smith County Middle School flew
in to Pat Parker field last Tuesday night and handed the Macon County Junior High
Tigers an early season loss 16-6.
The Owls took the
opening possession 81 yards in 8 plays to get on the board first. The two point
conversion was good and the Owls led 8-0.
The Tigers ensuing drive stalled at the Owls 35 yard line as they turned
it over on downs. The Owls go 65 yards
in 11 plays for their second score adding a two point conversion and taking the
lead 16-0.
The Tigers get the
ball to start the 3rd quarter and drive 56 yards in 6 plays. Chris Mickle punches it in from two yards out
and the two point conversion failed. New
score was 16-6 Smith County. The Tigers
played much better defense in the second half but the offense could not get
another score. Logan Grace was 2 of 8
passing with 6 yards. Gene Carman had 9
rushes for 49 yards. Tanner Lowhorn had
8 rushes 55 yards and 2 receptions for 6 yards.
The Tigers had 7 first downs and 125 total yards. The Owls had 14 first downs and 240 yards of
total offense. Grace led all tacklers
with 10, Mickle and Lowhorn with 8, Dalton York had 6, Carman and Trace
McPherson had 5 each, Bailey law had 3, Hunter Sullivan
and Mason Hewitt had 2 each, Cayden Shrum and Tyler Swindle each with 1
tackle.
The MCJHS Tigers
will try to get back on track Thursday night Sept. 1 as they travel to
Smithville to take on the DeKalb County Junior High Saints. Kick-off 6:30 come out and support the Tigers
and “I’ll see you at the game.”
