Jr. Tigers Defeat Saints

  On Thursday September 2 the MCJH traveled to
Smithville to take on the DeKalb Middle School Saints.  The Tigers got back on a winning track by
defeating the Saints 22-0. 


  The Tigers kicked
off first and forced a punt after a three and out.  The Tigers scored on their first possession
driving 62 yards in four plays. Tanner Lowhorn caps the drive with a 39 yard TD
run, the two point conversion attempt failed and the Tigers led 6-0.  With 2:55 to go in the 2
nd quarter,
Chris Mickle scored on a two yard fullback dive to end a 64 yard seven play
drive. Grace connects with Lowhorn for the two point conversion and the Tigers
led at the half 14-0. 

  Much of the 2nd
half was a defensive battle for both teams. 
Late in the fourth,  the Saints
had the ball 1
st and goal at the four.  With 1:21 to go in the game Grace intercepts
Joey Moons’ pass in the endzone.  On the
next offensive play for the Tigers, Lowhorn rips off an 80 yard run up the
middle and seals the win for the Tigers. 
Grace connects with Pemberton for the two point conversion and the
Tigers win 22-0.

  The statistics for
the game are listed as follows: Grace as 0 for 1 passing. Mickle 8 rushes 33
yards 1 TD, Lowhorn 6 rushes 154 yards 2 TD, Grace 6 rushes 26 yards, Carman 5
rushes 35 yards. The Tigers piled up 248 yards of offense while holding the
Saints to 57 yards.  Defensively Lowhorn
lead all tacklers with 11.  Mickle 8
tackles 1.5 sacks, Carman 5 tackles, Law 3 tackles ½ sack, Hewitt, Holland,
Pemberton each with 2 Tackles, York 2 tackles 1 sack.   Johns, Dyer, McPherson, Sullivan, Grace, and
Shrum were credited with one tackle each. 

  The Tigers will be
in action again on Tuesday September 6 At Gordonsville.  See you at the Game.
