MCHS Golf News
On 9/19/11 the MCHS Golf team
attended the Regional Tournament held at Montgomery Bell State Park in Dickson,
TN. There were 6 teams and 8 individuals at the tournament with a total of 23 girls
and 38 boys playing. There was a 3 1/2 hour rain delay in starting but the
weather held so it could be tournament could be finished. Only one boy’s team
and one girl’s team advance to the state tournament.
The MCHS girls won first place with a total score of 164, Hume Fogg 178,
Goodpasture 195, Montgomery Central 197, David Lipscomb 203, McEwen 215. The MCHS
girls individual scores were Kaitlin Cartwright 80 (4th place medalist),
Kaleigh Chitwood 84 (6th place) and Savannah Knight 90 (10th place). With this
win the girls move on to the State Tournament to be held September 27th
and 28th at Willowbrook Golf Course in Manchester, TN.
In the boys tournament, David Lipscomb won with a total score of 312,
Macon County 316 (2nd place), CPA 317, Montgomery Central 320, Greenbrier 324,
Goodpasture 328. The MCHS boys
individual scores were Austin Williams 78 (tied 10th), Ian Whittemore 78 (tied
10th), Zach Polston 80 (tied 16th), Collin Linville 80 (tied 16th), Larken
Whittemore 84 (tied 22nd).
Both boys and girls teams would like to thank everyone for their support
this season. They feel they have had a great season this year and appreciate
the support of the public and encouragement of all their fellow golfers.
