MCJHS Homecoming
By Tim Case
The MCJHS Tigers hosted
the Westmoreland Eagles for homecoming Tuesday September 27th. There was a large crowd in attendance.
The Tigers scored
first with a QB sneak by Logan Grace late in the 2nd quarter and the
2 point try was no good. The Tigers go in at halftime leading 6-0.
The Eagles put
together a drive late in the 3rd quarter to tie the game 6-6 after
the failed 2 point try. Then with 1:52
remaining in the game, Tanner Lowhorn scored on an 8 yard run. After the failed 2 point try the Tigers led
12-6.
The Eagles drive
deep into Tiger territory. With no
timeouts and 3rd and 10 at
the 18 yard line Leath connects with Trout for a 9 yard gain but stays in bounds and the clock continued to run. On 4th and 1 at the 9 with only 10
seconds on the clock, Leath the QB for the Eagles, not realizing it was 4th
down, spiked the ball to stop the clock.
The Eagles turn the ball over on downs and Grace took a knee to run out
the clock giving the Tigers the win 12-6.
Tigers keep their
championship hopes alive with the win.
Cornerstone will be coming to town this Tuesday night for parents’ night
and the final regular season game. If
the Tigers win they will finish in a three way tie for first place in the MTFC west. The Tigers will have the advantage of the
Tie-breaker and get to play for the Championship Saturday Oct. 8th
in a rematch against Livingston. Come
out and cheer the Tigers on to victory and “I’ll see you at the game.”
