Tight Game for Bulldogs in Monterey

 

  The Bulldogs of Red Boiling Springs
traveled to Monterey for the seventh game of the season.



 In the first quarter, Monterey’s Looper made a
1 yard run with the extra point kick by Strahlman.  Monterey 7 Red Boiling Springs 0. On the next
possession by RBS, Landon Hassard takes the ball to the end zone. The extra
point kick fails and the new score is Monterey 7, Red Boiling Springs 6.

 

 
With the second possession in the second quarter for RBS, A.J. Dale
takes a 9 yard pass from Cody Dickens into the end zone and the two point
conversion pass is good. Red Boiling Springs 14, Monterey 7.The first half
ended with this score.

 

 
No scoring by either team in the third quarter.  In the fourth quarter with 2:45 remaining, Monterey’s
Looper runs 22 yards into the end zone and the extra point kick by Strahlman is
good. The game was then tied 14-14. Monterey holds the Bulldogs on a four and
out.  With 1:10 left in the game, Puckett
receives a 22 yard pass from Henderson, the extra point kick is good and Monterey
now leads 21-14. Time expires with the final score…..Monterey 21 RBS 14.

 

 
Statistics for RBS were: Passing, Cody Dickens was 7 of 14, 0 for 5 in
the 2nd half for a total of 81 yards. Individual Rushing: A.J. Dale, 13 rushes
for 113 yards…..3 pass receptions for 34 yards and a touchdown…..Landon
Hassard, 11 rushes for 90 yards and a touchdown….Cody Dickens, 6 rushes for
25 yard….. Terrance Alexander, 1 rush for 10 yards….Matt French had 3
receptions for 45 yards…..The leading tackler for Red Boiling Springs was Landon
Hassard with 6 tackles.

 

 
With the loss, Red Boiling Springs falls to 2-5 overall, 1-4 in Region
4A. The Bulldogs will host Jackson County this Friday night which is the final
home game and Senior Night.
