MCHS Cross Country Region Action

 

  The
Macon County Boys and Girls Cross Country competed in the Region 5 A-AA meet
Thursday, October 27 at the Steeplechase Course at Percy Warner Park in
Nashville. The Macon County Girls finished first, winning their first Region
Championship since 2002.


  This is the Macon County Girls 7th
Region Championship, going back to 1997. The Macon Girls will run in the TSSAA
State Cross Country Meet, November 5, at Percy Warner Park. Led by sophomore
Katie Swindle with a 3rd place finish (21:21), Junior Katie Hix in 7th(22:01),
freshman Logan Hernandez in 9th(22:31), sophomore Jasmine Chaparro
in 13th(22:46), and freshman Daisy McClanahan in 33rd
place (24:36). Macon County outscored Hume-Fogg Academic, 2nd and Christ
Presbyterian, 3rd.

 
The Macon County Boys finished 8th, led by Seniors Andrew
Emberton, 4th (17:18) and Jordan Kemp, 40th place(19:25).
Other times for the team were Dylan Meador 64th (20:18), Jeff
Maynard 70th (20:29), and Ryan Avera 77th (20:42).  Emberton’s fourth place finish earned him a
second individual trip to the Boys State meet on November 5th which
will also be held at Percy Warner Park.
