Williams and Shoulders Recognized

 MCHS Schoolboy Austin Williams
was recognized as Outstanding Player in District 10 A-AA golf this week. Also
Coach Beverly Shoulders was recognized as the “Coach of the Year” for both boys
and girls golf in District 10 A-AA.

Williams is the son of Anita Romine and Lesley Williams. He managed to
win the 10 A-AA District Tournament. A steady wedge shot from eight yards out
was what gave Austin the win. This coming after one of his competitors hit a
“chilly-dip,” which all but eliminated him, on the first play-off hole.  “ After seeing that shot, all I could think
about was ‘I can come in second.’ If my ball hadn’t hit the pin, I don’t know
what would have happened.” Williams finished with a nine hole stroke average of
36.5 for the year.

Coach Beverly Shoulders has been recognized by her peers once before.
She has been coaching golf at MCHS for ten years and this is the first time she
has won the award with the boys team. “I am truly grateful for the dedication
and support from some of the finest fans and parents that anyone could have. I
cannot say enough about their efforts , love for this sport, and these
student-athlets.”
