The MCHS Girls finished in 3rd place in the 2011 TSSAA, A-AA State Cross Country meet. The State Meet was held Saturday, November 5 at the Steeplechase Course at Nashville’s Percy Warner Park. Thursday October 27, Macon County’s Girls won the Region 5 A-AA title on the same course.

Macon was led by Sophomore, Katie Swindle who finished in 9th place in 20:48.5. Finishing second for MCHS was Katie Hix in 28th place in 22:04.0. Hix was followed by Logan Hernandez in 29th place in her personal record time of 22:05.4. Hernandez bested her Region time by :26. Jasmine Chaparro finished in 65th place in 23:00.4 while the fifth finisher and last scorer was Daisy McClanahan, who finished in 107th place in her personal record time of 24:16.2. A freshman, McClanahan dropped her 5k time by almost 2:00 in the last month. Taylor Stafford finished in 159th, in 28:04, and Jenna Dziekiewicz finished in 172nd in 30:30.7. Posting personal bests for runners at this time of the year is really crucial to team success. They were the highest placing girls team in middle Tennessee, edged out by only Chatanogga Christian(1st) and Greenville(2nd).

Macon County Senior, Andrew Emberton competed in his second State Meet, finishing in 25th place in 17:33.0.
