The Hermitage Springs Lady Wildcats paid a visit to the Dog Pound and took home a rare win over the Lady Bulldogs 34-23. If you know the history of these 2 programs then you know that the kids from Hermitage Springs have not enjoyed much success playing in Red Boiling Springs. The Lady Wildcats on this team are not old enough to know that so they played like they were suppossed to win and win they did.
Much of the first half was up and down the court without much scoring and the Lady Bulldogs found themselves ahead by 2 points at halftime 15-13.The first half scoring for the home team was led by Madison Medrano and Kristen Stacey with 4 points each while Pricilla Regan made a long 3 pointer and the Tuck kids Abby and Kaylie had a basket each.
The third quarter was not a good one for the Lady Bulldogs as starting point guard Alexis Ouellette reinjured her ankle and was not able to be effective for the Lady Bulldogs. The Lady Wildcats went ahead in the third quarter and were able to put 21 points on the board in the second half while holding Red Boiling Springs to only 8 points.
The RBSJH lady bulldogs travled to Smith County last Monday night looking to break a four game losing streak. The RBS kids played hard but the Lady Owls had way to much talent for the Lady Bulldogs to overcome.
A 6-6 score at the end of the first quarter gave the Lady Bulldogs some hope only to see the Lady Owls turn up the defensive pressure forcing turnovers to be the downfall for the Lady Bulldogs. By halftime the Lady Bulldogs were still in this game trailing only 15-10.
The Smith County girls managed to stretch their lead out to 19-10 and finished the third quarter leading the Ladybulldogs 23-13. The Lady Bulldogs played hard but could not manage to cut into the Lady Owls lead and never got the score down to where a comeback was possible.
The Lady Bulldogs best quarter was the fourth as Olivia Atkins made 2 long 3 pointers and Pricilla Regan also added a 3 point basket but the Lady Owls kept up the pressure by still forcing a lot of mistakes to keep the Lady Bulldogs from getting a comeback mounted.
The Lady Bulldogs were led in scoring by Olivia Atkins with 7 points followed by Pricilla Regan with 5 points while Abby Tuck scored 4 points and Kristen Stacey also had 4 points.Madison Medrano along with Lauren Henson and Kaylie Tuck each scored 2 points.
A very interesting stat from this game was the number of jump balls that were called. How about 21 for the total. A very high number for a jr. high basketball game.
