Tigerettes Split Hall of Fame Games

By Mark Darnell

In the anticipated start of this year’s basketball season, the MCHS Tigerettes split two games. Both games were played on the road in this year’s Hall of Fame Games.

On Tuesday November 15th, MCHS travelled to Lebanon High School. In the first period, the Tigerettes came out and posted 20 points behind the early long range shooting of Terra Pryor. The girls capitalized on 9/22 shooting and making 10 of 13 free throws to push the half-time score to MCHS 33 LHS 26. In the second half, Senior Katie Reid scores 17 of her 22 points and the Tigerettes overpower AAA Lebanon High School by a final score of 69-51. Scoring were Kailyn Brooks 13, Terra Pryor 23, Katie Reid 22, Katelyn Bean 5, Calamity Jane Coley 3, Reece Shrum 2, and Whitney Wilburn 1. Briley Driver, Macy Kemp, Michaela Thompson, Alyssa Tuck, Leah Anderson, and Jade Ellis all played but did not score.

On Thursday November 17th, the Hall of Fame Game was at Livingston Academy.  The first period was plagued by turnovers and poor shooting and at the end of one MCHS trailed by nine points. However in the second period, the inside game of Coley and the 3 point shooting of Kailyn Brooks kept the girls close.  At half, the score was trimmed to MCHS 33 LA 38. In the third quarter,  MCHS converted on ten of fourteen baskets and kept the score, at the end of three, MCHS 58 LA 61. However in the last period the girls lost their hot hand and only were able to convert on 3 of 12 of their scoring attempts. Livingston was able to hold on and claim the victory by a final score of MCHS 68 LA 71. Scoring were Brooks 16, Pryor 11, Reid 7, Coley 22, Driver 7, Shrum 3, and Wilburn 2. Bean played in every quarter but did not score.

Next week the Tigerettes will host the Lady Yellow Jackets at home on Tuesday the 22nd.
