Tigers drop two in Hall of Fame

By Mark Darnell

The MCHS Tigers dropped both of their games in the opening week of the season. They played Lebanon and Livingston in the Hall of Fame contests.

On November 15th, the Tigers played the Lebanon Blue Devils. The Tigers came out firing as Tyler Manning and Tyler Clark each made multiple three point baskets.  At the end of one, MCHS led 20 to 12. However, Lebanon picked up their defensive intensity and poured in some three’s and knotted the game at the half, at 37 apiece. The third quarter proved to be the turn in the tide. MCHS converted on only 3 of 10 shooting and 1 of 2 free throws and gave up the lead. At the end of the third, MCHS 45 LHS 53. Lebanon was able to extend their lead and wrapped up the win with a final score of MCHS 60 LHS 73. Scoring for the Tigers was: Tyler Manning 21, Andrew Kempf 4, Trey McPherson 6 , Dallas Grace 11, Dalton Shrum 4, Dillon McCormick 4, and Tyler Clark 10. Aaron Carter, Justin Tucker, Daniel Gregory, Austin McClard, Peyton Clark, and Mason Shrum all played but did not score.

On Thursday November 17th, the Tigers travelled to face a Livingston team who advanced to the state tournament last season.  Once again the Tigers came out of the gate strong converting on 5 of 9 shooting and 4 of 5 free throws which gave them the lead at the end of the first, MCHS 15 LA 14. Turnovers were a big factor as the Wildcats were able to score on three in a row in the second and LA took the lead at half by a score of 29-23. Livingston was able to withstand every punch the Tigers threw, trading basket for basket and eventually pushing their lead to 45-38 at the end of three. Full-court pressure by the Tigers proved ineffective as the Wildcats were able to score 24 points in the final period to seal the victory, Final score MCHS 55 LA 69. Scoring for the Tigers were: Manning 10, Kempf 1, McPherson 15, Grace 12, Russell 2, Shrum 10, Clark 3, and McCormick 2. Carter and Tucker each played but did not score.

The Tigers next play at home on Tuesday November 22nd against the Trousdale County Yellow Jackets.
