Clay County Conquers Bulldogs
By: Wally Etheridge
The Red Boiling Springs Bulldogs had one of those nights that no basketball team or their fans never want to see and believe me no coach wants to be a part of. If it happens once every 10 years that is too often.
The Clay County Bulldogs could do no wrong and Red Boiling Springs spent the entire game searching for some answers but the answer was a very hot Clay County basketball team that could do no wrong the entire night. Bulldog coach Michael Owens went to his bench all night looking for a combination that might get his team rolling but the more he tried the outcome of this contest was practically over by halftime as Clay County posted a 43-5 lead. All of this before a sellout crowd and some standing room only fans from both schools.
The Bulldog points were score by David Williams with 3points 1 each by Cody Dickens and Matt French. The surprise of the evening was that most of the fans stuck around for the entire game and they watched a second half much like the first half.
Make no mistake about it, Clay County has a very talented basketball team and they can go about 9 deep and never miss a beat. They are also well coached by Rob Edwards who has been at Clay County for a number of years and his kids always play hard.
Red Boiling Springs did not ever quit in this game even though the harder they played did not seem to change anything on the scoreboard. Bulldog coach Owens never lost his cool but the quicker this game would be over the better for everyone concerned if you are a Red Boiling Springs Bulldog fan.
If you have ever played basketball these kind of games happen to everyone sooner or later so get this game over and move on to Friday night when Pickett County will be in town.
Bulldog scoring for the game-David Williams-9 points-Cody Dickens-3 points-Ty Tuck-3 points-Nick Deckard-3 points and 1 point each for Zack Roberts and Matt French.
