Tyler Manning selected to the Toyota East-West All-star Team

  The 5th annual Toyota East-West All-Star game will be played on December 10th, 2011 at Carson Newman College. Players will report on Tuesday night December 6th and practices will begin on Wednesday. Thomas McDaniel from Oakland High School will be the Head coach for the East team and Ron Crawford from Brentwood high will be the head coach for the West team. Macon County Senior wide receiver Tyler Manning was selected to play for the West team. 


  Manning Ended his career at MCHS as the all-time receiving leader.  In his senior season he caught 58 passes for 1022 yards, 11 TD’s and averaged 17.62 yards per catch. Total career stats for Manning are 140 receptions, 2064 yards, 17 Td’s averaging 14.74 yards per catch. Manning also had a punt return for a touchdown. Tyler also plays basketball and plans to run track in the spring. 

  Manning is the first player from MCHS to be selected to the Toyota East-West All-Star game. Manning will be joined by Kennan Reynolds from Goodpasture. Manning and Reynolds are the only two players selected from district 9AA. Other local notables include Jordan Harper from Trousdale County along with his head coach Kevin Creasy who was selected as an assistant coach for the West.

  MCHS Head Coach Mark Pemberton was the head coach of the East team back in 2006. Coach Pemberton said in an interview “It is a who’s who among high school football players. Recruiters from major colleges will be in attendance of the practices and game. A lot of scholarships will be offered to players at this game.” Only 100 athletes from across the state are chosen for the game. There are already more than 15 of those selected who have already committed to Division 1 programs including SEC, ACC, and PAC10 schools. When asked his thoughts about the competition, Manning replied “It will be challenging but it will be fun.” Manning has drawn interest from Tennessee Tech, Hanover, Lawrence University, and Tusculum. Manning plans to Major in physical therapy or even possibly teaching and coaching.
