Gabriel Christian shocks RBSHS Boys

By Wally Etheridge

Red Boiling Springs Coach Michael Owens had been preaching to anyone that would listen that last Tuesday night's game with Gabriel Christian would be a tough game for the Bulldogs and Coach Owens turned out to be a prophet as the Bulldogs went down to defeat 54-43.

What impressed Bulldog fans about the Eagles was how super quick they were and their athletic ability would match anyone that the Bulldogs have played all year. They also shot the ball very well and they took very good shots. They are also well coached and play well as a team.
With all this said the Bulldogs decided to just not roll over and not make this a contest that the home team would be proud of.They did just that.
With David Williams and Cody Dickens playing their best offensive game of the year and Matt French along with Erin Francis coming out strong on offense as well and with Matt Brockette playingb great defense and running thr Bulldog attack the Bulldogs found themselves trailing only 16-13 at the end of the first quarter.
With Bulldog center David Williams getting into foul trouble early in the second quarter the Bulldogs slowed the game down and stayed close to the Eagles trailing only 32-25 at the half. Cody Dickens kept the Bulldogs close in the first half with 8 big points.
The Eagles got their offense going in the third quarter putting 18 points on the scoreboard while the Bulldogs managed only 13 points but were still in striking distance trailing only 50-38 going into a very bad quarter for the Bulldogs as they managed to score only 5 points. This was not one of those games that the Bulldogs should have won nor was the officiating a deciding factor. They simply got beat by a better team.
We will have the scoring individual totals for this game in next weeks paper.Next on the schedule for these kids is the All-Shoot out in Montecello tournament in Montcello ky.on Dec 27th. The Nera White Tournament will follow starting Dec 27th. Watch the Chronicle Sports next week for the exact starting times.
