Lady Bulldogs Roll over Gabriel Christian

By Wally Etheridge

The Red Boiling Springs Lady Bulldogs have been experiencing some difficult times lately so what better time to get back to the basics of fundamental basketball when you have a team coming to the Dog Pound that you should handle without much trouble. That is exactly what Lady Bulldog coach Larry White did last Tuesday night as the Lady Bulldogs pounded Gabriel Christian 69-25.

The Lady Bulldogs played this game without injured starter Ashlyn Murphy who was injured in the Westmoreland game and there was some concern how the Lady Bulldogs would fare without her in the lineup. Just fine was the answer as every player on the team stepped up and played very good.
The Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a first quarter lead of 19-4 and never were threatened by the outclassed Lady Eagles. The Lady Bulldogs decided to go inside in the second quarter to get points and behind Morgan Burgener and Katie Hix the lead was stretched out to 42-12. The smile on the girls face going into the dressing room told the story without looking at the scoreboard.
On this night Red Boiling Springs would get something they had been looking for all year long and that was a balanced attack of scoring from the entire team. That makes for a good team effort and this team was enjoying playing this basketball game.
Lady Bulldog Morgen Burgener had a Double-Double scoring 20 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.Lady Bulldog Kelsey Jenkins knocked down 4 three pointers in the first half for 12 of her 15 points.
This ball game was way out of reach by the end of the third quarter as the home team led 62-20.The fourth quarter was to just run the clock and get this game over.
    The scoring for the rest of the Lady Bulldogs—Katie Hix 9 points-Mckenzie sadler 8 points-Mayson Burgener 6 points-Kaitlyn Mccarter 5 points-Kalish Lynch 2 points-Kristin Davis 2 points-Mckenzie Hix 2 points.
The Lady Bulldogs now head to Cosby High School for the Cosby Classic. They will play at 6:30 p.m. on the 19th against Cosby and at 3:30 p.m. on the 20th against Greenbrier. They will then move on to Scotsville for the South Hallon Tournament that starts on December 27th and winds up on December 30th.The Lady Bulldogs will return to district action on January 3rd. at Watertown.
We will have more information on Ashlyn Murphy's injury and we will let you know as soon as we do.We need this young lady back in the lineup.
