Smith County Smacks Lady Bulldogs
The Red Boiling Springs Lady Bulldogs softball team have been playing some pretty good teams that make up the toughest part of their schedule but the Smith County Lady Owls turned the Dog Pound into their home playing field with a 14-2 defeat of the Lady Bulldogs.
Smith County scored early and often with some very hard hitting plus they got some help as the Lady Bulldogs made way too many errors to stay in this contest. The Lady Owls are a very talented team and you must bring your A game to the field to have any chance to compete against this class 2A school. The Lady Owls have outstanding pitching and the Lady Bulldogs had a very hard time putting runs on the scoreboard.
Red Boiling Springs scored their first run of the game on a bunt single by Sherena Swoner who promptly stole second base on the first pitch to Kalish Lynch who would later in her at bat slam a double to send Swoner scooting home for the Lady Bulldogs first run and closing the gap to 4 to 1 with Smith County in the lead. The Lady Bulldogs would find themselves trailing by a score of 14-1 going into their last chance to do any more scoring. The home team would put 1 more run on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth inning and once again it was a great bunt laid down by Sherena Swoner who advanced to second base on a ground out by Lynch and Swoner swiped third base and scored the Lady Bulldogs final run of the game on a RBI single by Katie Greanead.
The Lady Bulldogs now will travel to Trousdale County on Tuesday night March 27th to take on the powerfull Lady Jackets in a very important district game. After the Trousdale County game the Lady Bulldogs will travel to Gatlinburg to take on Gatlinburg-Pittman High School in a double header Friday night before returning home after a day of visiting Piegon Forge. Have a nice trip Lady Bulldogs.
