MCHS Track and Field

The Macon County Track Team recently competed in the Buster Relays in Nashville. Teams from all over the mid-state competed in this event.

In the Boys meet Andrew Emberton finished 7th in the 3200m with a time of 10:39. Sean Black, Josh Carson, Dylan Meador, and Andrew Emberton finished in 12th in the Distance Medley and Austin Crawford, Jeff Maynord, Dylan Sexton, and Sean Black finished 16th  in the Sprint Medley.

The Girls team had some strong showings. Katelyn Swindle finished 4th in the 3200m with a time of 12:19 and Terra Pryor finished 9th in the Long Jump at 15’5” breaking a school record set in 1994. Katelyn Swindle, Kelsey Gregory, Logan Hernandez, and Katie Hix placed 3rd in the Distance Medley and Swindle, Hernandez, Brooklyn McClard and Hix placed 4th in the 4×400 Relay. Kelsey Gregory ran 27.3 seconds in the 200m and Rachel Wakefield ran 27.4 seconds, finishing 5th and 7th respectively, which both break an 18 yr old school record. Katelyn Bean and Makayla Thompson finish 4th and 10th in the Shot Put and 2nd and 5th in the Discus. Bean’s 116’ discus throw also set a new school record.

Middle Tennessee’s best high school track & field athletes are invited to compete at the 2012 Great Eight High School Track & Field. The best eight athletes in each event, regardless of their classification (AAA, A-AA, or Div.II) will go head-to-head at the meet. MCHS Senior Katelyn Bean qualified for the 2012 Great 8 Meet in the Shot Put and finished 6th with a throw of 108’5”.
