MCHS Softball Finishes Regular Season 16-12

The Macon County High School Softball finished up the regular season with a record of 16 wins and 12 losses.

This past week they picked up wins over Smith County and Sycamore and lost a close one at Friendship Christian.

On Monday April 23rd, MCHS hosted Smith County. Although the Lady Owls scored first with two runs in the first inning, Macon managed to plate 8 runs over 6 innings. Jessica Lancaster went 1 for 4 with 2 RBIs while Katie Reid went 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs as well. Chelsea Carter got the win by pitching the complete game and giving up 3 runs on 6 hits. Final score MCHS 8 SHS 3.

On Tuesday April 24th the Tigerettes traveled to Sycamore. The Macon girls struck early plating two runs in the top of the first and never looked back. Alyssa tuck went 3 for 3 scoring one run and collection one RBI while Clara Howser went 3 for 4 and scored one run. Chelsea Carter picks up the win again with no earned runs allowed. The final score was Macon 4 Sycamore 1.

On Thursday April 25th Macon County traveled to Friendship Christina. This was a back and forth contest as the lead constantly changed hands. Friendship scored in the first then Macon tied while Friendship regained the lead in the bottom of the third. Macon would tie the game but Friendship would score the winning run in the bottom of the sixth and hold on to win by a final score of 3-2. Mary Belton hit 1 for 2 with 1 run and 1 RBI.

The final game of the season against Goodpasture was rained out on Friday.
Congratulations go to Clara Howser. She was named the most recent Player of the Week by Coach Monica Braswell. Clara Howser batted .1000 against Friendship Christian as she was 3 for 3 with two doubles, a single, and a walk. Howser has been the most consistent player for Macon County over the course of the season.
 
This week the softball team will begin preparations for the District 9 AA tournament.
