MCHS Track & Field Competes in Sub-Section

The Macon County Boys and Girls Track and Field teams competed in the A-AA East Sub-Section at TPS this past week. The Tigers had quite a few athletes competing and had some really strong showings.

The Tigerette team finished in third place overall. Terra Pryor finished 4th in the long jump and 3rd in the 800m and Kaitlen Bean (1st in Discus 3rd in Shot) and Michaela Thompson (5th in Discus 7th in Shot) had strong showings in the field events. Katie Swindle won the 3200m while Daisy McClanahan finished 6th and Katie Hix won the 1600m as Casandra Wilson finished 11th. Brooklyn McClard and Rachel Wakefield finished 11th and 12th in the 100m. Logan Hernandez finished 8th in the 400m, Mercedez McCumber finished 11th in the 100m hurdles, Jasmine Chaparro finished 7th in the 800m, and Taylor Stafford finished 15th in the 200m.

The Tigers finished 9th in team event. Andrew Emberton placed 5th in the 1600m and Alex Walton placed 8th in the Shot. John Case, Josh Carson, and Tyler Roberts finished 9th, 18th, and 19th in the long jump. Jeff Maynard and Dylan Sexton finished 11th and 12th in the 110m hurdles. Austin Crawford finished 16th in the 100m, Colton Eden finished 18th in the 3200m, Eddie Chaparro finished 19th in the 3200m, and Sean Black placed 18th in the 800m.

Macon athletes will advance in eight events. The following will compete in the Middle TN Section Finals: Terra Pryor in the long jump and 800m, Kaitlen Bean in the Shot and Discus, Michaela Thompson in the Discus, Katie Swindle in the 3200m, Katie Hix in the 1600m, 4×800 relay team of Hix, Swindle, Jasmine Chaparro, Pryor, and Logan Hernandez, and Andrew Emberton in the 1600m. Section Finals will be on Tuesday May 15th and Thursday May 17th at David Lipscomp High School.
