Macon County Trap Team Competes in TN Junior Olympics

The Macon County Trap Team kicked off the 2012 season traveling to the Holly Fork Shooting Complex in Paris, TN to compete in the Tennessee Junior Olympic State Championships.

The competition is the largest state Junior Olympic event in the United States as a total of 124 young athletes from across Tennessee gather to compete.

Senior Alexis Bartley won the ladies J1 division title hitting a total of 81 of 125 targets with Senior Maggie Sircy placing 4th in the division. Sophomore Kelsey Cook finished 5th in the ladies J2 division busting 85 targets. Colton Kirby (97) led the team in the men’s J2 division while Matthew Minchey (94) led the team in the men’s J1 division. Rounding out the scoring for the team was Tyler Knight (91), Austin Mathews (91), Tyler Owen (88), and Jon Tucker (84). Dylan Brawner led the new team members with a score of 85 followed by Brock Rutan, Eli Doss, Ryan Minchey, David Richardson, Jackson Sircy and Kelsey Bullington.

The team now must get back to work to prepare for the TNSCTP Division 2 Regional Championship to be held June 2 at the Big Springs Shooting Complex in Christiana, TN. The team would also like to thank everyone for their support of the trap program.
