MCHS Tiger Golf
The MCHS Golf Team traveled to Greenbrier, TN to take on the Greenbrier High School on their home course, Oak Hills Golf Course. The MCHS Golf team was victorious, posting a score of 295 to Greenbriers 339.
Boys individual scores were Austin Williams 71 (1 under par); Ian Whittemore 74; Larken Whittemore 75; Zach Polston 75; Trey Reid 78; and Trenton Duffer 80.
Without a girls team to participate the MCHS Girls played posting scores of Kaitlin Cartwright 76; Kaleigh Chitwood 83; and Laruen Gammons 85.
The Macon County Golf Team traveled to Old Hickory, TN on August 20th, 2012 to participate in the Davidson Academy Tournament. There were 110 students there which included 14 Boy’s teams and 10 Girl’s Teams. This Invitational was held on Old Hickory Golf Course with 10 teams in Class AAA and 4 teams in Class A-AA in boys and girls had 7 teams in Class AAA and 3 teams in Class A-AA.
The MCHS Golf team as a whole made a good showing. The Boys Team posted a 305 for a 3rd place finish with 1st going to Battleground Academy and 2nd place to Hendersonville High School. MCHS boys individual scores were Austin Williams scored 73, placed Tied 4th of 80 players; Larken Whittemore scored 75, placed Tied 7th of 80 players; Ian Whittemore scored 78, Tied 20th of 80 players; Zach Polston scored 79, Tied 22 of 80 players; Trey Reid and Trenton Duffer scored 88 each, Tied 52 of 80 players.
The MCHS Girls participated along with a total of 10 teams of which there were 30 players. The MCHS Girls team scored 158 total receiving 4th place overall. The girls score were: Kaitlin Cartwright and Kaleigh Chitwood both scoring a 79 which tied 9th place of 30 players and Lauren Gammons scored 81 which was 13th place of 30 players.
On August 23rd the MCHS Golf Team hosted Portland High School, Westmoreland High School and RBS High School at the Macon County Golf Course. MCHS Boys posted a total of 143, while Westmoreland posted a total of 177, Portland posted 200, and RBS posted a total of 210. The MCHS Girls’ total was 74 vs Portland’s 87.
MCHS Boys individual scores were: Zach Polston 34, Austin Williams 34, Larken Whittemore 36, Trenton Duffer 38, Ian Whittemore 39, Trey Reid 39, Kurtis Butcher 41 and Mason Gunter 44.
MCHS Girls individual scores were: Kaitlin Cartwright 35, Kaleigh Chitwood 39, Lauren Gammons 39, Leah Johnson 40, Delaney Johnson 47, Mackenzie Mix 48 and Cameron Toornburg 54.
RBS Boys individual scores were: Cameron Wilson 47, Bailey Chapman 50, Ethan Norman 51, Donavon Greadnead 65 and Austin Crowe 67.
RBS Girls Victoria Rich posted a 44.
Next match will be an 18 hole tournament held by Hendersonville High School at the Blue Grass Yacht and Country Club to be held on Monday 8/27/12. The record for the Boys stands at 18-2 while the Girls are 9-3 on the season.
