My View from the Press Box – DeKalb County Junior High

The Macon County Junior High Tigers get a win in their home opener against the DeKalb County Saints on August 28th, 2012.  The game went to overtime in order to decide the contest.

Seth Carlisle opened the game with a 75 yd kick-off return to the 4 yard line. Two plays later Braxton Crawford scored on a 4 yard touchdown run. The two point play failed, Tigers lead 6-0.  The Saints answer back with a 17 yard TD pass from Jennings to Poss.  The two point play failed, and the score was tied 6-6.  After a Tiger fumble on the next possession, DeKalb scored again with a 20 TD pass. The two point play was good as the Saints took the lead 14-6.  With 2:51 left in the first half Carlisle Scored on a 5 yard TD run. Carlisle passed to Caden Shrum for the 2pt play and the score was tied 14-14 at the half. 

The Saints scored with 2:00 minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter on a 53 yard touchdown pass from Jennings to Jones.  Two point play no good.  DC led 20-14. With 5:48 left in the game, Carlisle tied it up with a 6 yard touchdown run.  The conversion failed and the score was 20-20.  The Tiger defense held off a late drive to send the game into overtime. 

Carlisle scored on the first play in the overtime with a 10 yard run around the left end and Braxton Crawford added the two point conversion and the Tigers led 28-20.  DeKalb fumbled on the first snap and Tyler Swindle recovered to seal the win for the Tigers. 

Carlisle was 1-6 passing with 6 yards.  Rushing, Carlisle 13 carries 131 yards 3 TD, Crawford 7 carries 41 yards 1 TD, Sewell  5 carries 14 yards, Shrum  1 carry 0 yards.  Jason Sewell led all tacklers with 9. 

The MCJH Tigers will be home for two games this week as they will host Gordonsville for Homecoming Tuesday night and White House Heritage on Thursday night.  Come out a support the Tigers and “I’ll see you at the game.”
