Macon County Cross Country

The Macon County Cross Country team had strong showings in their three recent meets. Some have high expectations for the fleet-footed prepsters in our area.

On September 8th, 2012 Macon County traveled to Oakville Indian Mounds Park, in Alabama, for the Chickasaw Trails XC Invitational. Teams from the Mid-South were there to run. The MC Boys team finished 17th in a field of 26 teams. Times were: Dylan Meador 18:33 (79th), Jeff Maynard 18:50 (91st), Ryan Avera 19:25 (106), Carson Cunningham 19:46 (122), Christopher Bullington 19:46 (136), Sawyer Baughn 21:40 (162), Colton Eden 21:40 (164), John Case 22:06 (170), and Tyler Naplen 23:15 (188).  The Girls finished a strong 5th in a field of 25 teams. Their times were: Katie Swindle 20:18 (11th), Katie Hix 20:34 (17th), Jasmine Chaparro 20:59 (21st), Logan Hernandez 22:19 (46th), Alisa Givins 23:48 (85), Maddy Miller 23:51 (87), Angela Whisenhunt 24:43 (104), Jessica Seehafer 25:11 (112), Abbi Welch 32:00 (124) and Karla Whisenhunt 33:40 (132).

On Tuesday September 11th, 2012 the Tigers and Tigerettes ran at home in a Mid-Week Mid-State Meet. The boys finished 5th and their times were: Meador 19:04, Maynard 19:13, Avera 20:20, Cunningham 21:13, Bullington 21:19, Case 22:53, Baughn 23:00, Eden 23:44, and Naplen 25:44.  The Girls finished first as a team with times of: Swindle 22:15, Hix 22:50, Hernandez 23:16, Chaparro 24:37, Givins 24:42, Miller 26:01, Seehafer 26:48, A Whisenhunt 27:40,  Welch 33:39, and K. Whisenhunt 38:45.

On Saturday September 15th, 2012 Macon County made the trek to Sparta to compete in the Voyles Backyard Brawl. This race is sponsored by the parents of former White County/Macon County State Champion Markie Voyles. The Boys finished in 6th place and their times were: Meador 18:52, Avera 19:30, Cunningham 20:28, Eden 23:02, Baughn 23:47, and Case 27:27. The Tigerettes finished in third with times of:  Swindle 21:37, Chaparro 22:06, Hernandez 23:35, Hix 23:51, Miller 23:55, Givins 25:17, Seehafer 25:24, A Whisenhunt 26:11,  Welch 34:43, and K. Whisenhunt 38:44.
