The Macon County Girls Cross Country team placed 1st in the TSSAA Region 5, A-AA Championship meet held Thursday at Percy Warner Park’s Steeplechase Course.
This is the 98th Region Championship for the Macon County’s girls team. This win qualifies the team for an appearance at the TSSAA State Cross Country Championships, held Saturday, November 3, at the Steeplechase Course in Nashville. This will be Macon County Girls 10th State Meet appearance. In 2011, the last State Meet appearance the team finished in 3rd place.
Times for the girls were as follows: Katie Swindle (4th) 21:08, Katie Hix (5th) 21:21, Jasmine Chaparro (7th) 21:48, Logan Hernandez (19th) 24:01, Alysia Givins (28th) 25:03, Maddy Miller (31) 25:17, and Jessica Seehafer (47) 26:56.
The MCHS boys team finished in 8th place at the event. Their times were: Dylan Meador (23) 19:06, Jeff Maynard (41) 19:55, Carson Cunningham (50) 20:22, Chris Bullington (54) 20:38, Damontae (55) 20:39, Ryan Avera (63) 21:01, and Sawyer Baughn (99) 23:02.
