Westmoreland Claims two Over RBS
but Westmoreland just had way too much talent for that to happen and won by a final score of 58-25.The Lady Bulldogs have had problems scoring points.
The Lady Eagles started fast by out-scoring the Lady Bulldogs in the first quarter by a score of 15-8 and the home team could never recover, trailing at halftime 29-12.The Lady Eagles full court defense was a big problem for the Lady Bulldogs as they forced turnover after turnover and the Lady Eagles wound up forcing 30 for the game. Many of the Lady Eagles points came off those 30 turnovers.
With Westmoreland leading by a score of 54-22 and just a little over 2 minutes left in the game Lady Eagles coach Cheir Abner decided that her full court defense had served it’s purpose and cleared her bench.
Lady Bulldog scoring totals for this game-Kaitlyn McCarter and Katie Hix each had 6 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs. Mayson Burgener had 5 points and Kelsey Jenkins and Olivia Atkins had 3 points each. Kalish Lynch scored 2 points.
When you score 20 points in a high school basketball game you can expect to lose a lot of games and that was a problem for the Bulldogs last Friday night as they went down to defeat to Westmoreland by a final score of 45-20. The Bulldogs had trouble all night trying to break Westmoreland’s in your face defense but time and again they were forced into turnover after turnover.
The Bulldogs hung tough early in this game but Westmoreland led this game 7-2 after one period. Brince Crouch scored the 2 points for the Bulldogs in the first quarter. Red Boiling Springs stayed with the Eagles until midway thru the second quarter when the Eagles used their defense to score 8 straight points and take a lead of 18-11 at half-time. The Bulldogs did manage to score 9 points in the second quarter with Ty Tuck leading the way with 5 points while Skylar Holden and Dallas Greaned scoring 2 points each.
Westmoreland scored 9 points in the third quarter and the Bulldogs dug in and played hard but they simply were too far behind to have any chance of a comeback as Westmoreland took a 27-14 lead into the fourth quarter. A bright spot for the Bulldogs in the 4th quarter was the play of Brince Crouch who scored the Bulldogs only six points.
Bulldog scoring for the game was: Brince Crouch led the Bulldogs with 8 points while Ty Tuck had 7 points, followed by Dallas Greanead and Skylar Holden with 2 points each.
The Bulldogs and the Lady Bulldogs now travel to take on the Pickett County Bobcats on Saturday night. That will not be an easy game because it’s so hard to win on their floor.
