Jr High Bulldogs Highland Rim Conference Action

The Red Boiling Springs Junior Bulldogs just came out smoking and the Jackson County Blue Devils had no answer as the Bulldogs took home a 46-20 win that was totally unexpected.

Not the win but the margin of victory that no one saw coming. The Bulldogs now go into Thursday action to take on the Macon County Junior High boys in semi-final action.

This game was not over at this point but the Third quarter took all of the steam out of the Blue Devils as the Bulldogs scored 8 points to take a lead of 31-13 lead into the fourth and final quarter. Bulldog Coach Dustin McKinnie cleared his bench early and every kid got to play. The Bulldogs win this contest going away by a final score of 46-20.

Here are your scoring totals for the Bulldogs: Chase Long 18 points, Elijah Byfield 11 points, Kaleb Stacy 5 points, Justin Bergdorff 3 points, Josh Tirjan 5 points, Jerad Hatcher 2 points, and Michael Tirjan had 2 points.

The Red Boiling Springs Junior Lady Bulldogs blew a 10 point lead going into the fourth quarter as they lost to the Celina Lady Bulldogs by a final score of 37-33. This was one of the most exciting games of the year for the Lady Bulldogs and blowing that lead really hurts.

The Lady Bulldogs got off to a fast start outscoring Celina early in this contest only to see Celina come back and tie this contest up at the break 24-24. Fans from both schools knew that Celina has 2 wins over the Lady Bulldogs already this year and it is very hard to beat any team 3 times in any given year.

The Lady Bulldogs scoring went south on them in the second half and this allowed Celina to make their comeback. How close was this game? With a little over a minute left Celina finally grabbed the lead 34-33. With just over 24 seconds the Lady Bulldogs lost the ball out of bounds and that broke their back as Celina went down and scored the game’s final points. Celina moves on to play Thursday while the Lady Bulldogs find themselves playing Merrill-Hyde next week and that game will bring their season to a end.
