MCHS Marching Band To Perform at Disney World Parade
Director Shawn Mitterholzer said the band was invited once again to perform at one of the park’s daily parades and after months of planning, fundraising and practicing they will leave from MCHS on Wednesday, April 17th. They will travel with Taylor Tours on a coach bus to Embassy Suites in Orlando where the band members will stay. The group will return home on April 23.
During their stay the students will also enjoy relaxing by the pool, a Beach Day which will feature a picnic and all the trimmings, along with a tour of Universal Studios and of course the famous Disney World.
“This is one of the best performing groups that I’ve had in recent years,” said Director Mitterholzer. “Over the last few years I’ve seen an increase in band participation and musicianship. These young adults are self motivated and driven, and they strive for excellence.”
The director says he is proud of this wonderful group of young musicians who sound great and look terrific. “Besides our marching season we also have a concert band, jazz band and we now had a pep band for the basketball season,” he said. “We have a winter concert as well as a spring concert, and we have six members who will play with the Honor Band at Western Kentucky University.”
The Band held a roadblock fundraiser this past Saturday and they will also have a fish fry, cake-walk and a craft fair in the coming weeks to raise additional funds for the Taylor Tours traveling expense.
“We are putting in a lot of hours practicing and I am sure it will pay off,” said Mitterholzer. “I am blessed to have such a great group of band members.”
