Saturday Night…Two Traffic Accidents

02-12twowreck

A section of Highway 10 North from Vinson Road to the Ellington Drive intersection was closed for several hours Saturday night, February 9, when a semi flipped onto its’ side dumping a load of rice bran that resulted in property damage.

Thirty-one-year-old Jarrode Main, of Quitman, Arkansas, was traveling north on Scottsville Road in a 2012 Peterbilt tractor trailer, when the tires on the right side of the vehicle dropped off the side of the road around 8:30 p.m. “As he attempted to get the truck back on the road it over turned, dumping his cargo of rice bran, which is an ingredient in cattle feed,” stated Trooper Tracy Donoho, of the Tennessee Highway Patrol. “The driver was not injured.”

“He was driving for a company out of Arkansas,” noted the trooper. “Unfortunately, his cargo completely covered one automobile and about half of another vehicle, resulting in property damage.”

The highway opened back up several hours later, after the truck had been removed and the cargo cleaned up. No charges were filed.

First responders were the Lafayette Police Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Lafayette Fire Department, Macon County Rescue Squad, and the Macon County Chronicle.

Then around 10:30 p.m. a 2008 Nissan Versa smacked a Macon County Fairgrounds sign after the driver suffered a medical problem.

Deputy Kevin Templeton, of the Macon County Sheriffs Office, said that Delilah Cross, age 54, of Lafayette, veered off the road and struck the sign after a low blood sugar complication. Her passenger was transported to Macon County General Hospital, but Ms. Cross refused treatment.

Those responding to this traffic accident were the Macon County Sheriffs Office, Macon County EMS, and the Macon County Chronicle.
