Macon Moves into 9AA Tournament

alt

The Macon County High School Baseball team finished the regular season in 3rd place in District 9AA.

With this place, the Tigers were set to play the 6th place team, Westmoreland, in the district tournament play-in game.

With six teams in the district, the tournament is held a little differently. The top two teams get a bye while team 3 plays 6 and 4 plays 5. The loser of these games is eliminated. The winners move into a double elimination play-off with the top two teams in the district. Two teams from this tournament move onto region play.

The Tigers were set to meet Westmoreland at home on Thursday May 2nd in this play-in game. Since the last home game of the season was cancelled due to weather, the Tigers honored the parents of all their Seniors. Both the coaches and the players wanted to give thanks to the moms and dads who have been faithful fans the past four plus years.

Macon hurler Dalton Shrum took the mound and had great control thru the game. He went the full seven innings, pitching only 80 pitches and giving up only two hits in the shut-out. Ian Whittemore goes 2 for 3 and scores one run while Tyler “Duck Man” Kemp is 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs. Macon led the entire way and this was a good team win that will hopefully spring-board MCHS into a good district tournament. The Tigers did not have a defensive error in this game. Final score MCHS 4 WHS 0.

Macon will now move into the four team double-elimination 9AA tournament. They are scheduled to play White House, at White House on Monday May 6th at 4:30 p.m.
