Tigers Open Trap Season with Wins

The Macon County Tigers Trap Team opened their 2013 season at the Big Springs Clay Targets Complex in Christiana, TN in a winning way with squads 2 and 3 posting wins and  squad 1 placing 2nd in their class. 

Seventeen teams and 194 student athletes competed at the event with the Tigers well represented with sixteen top shooters.

First year team members Daniel Holland, Jordan Gentry, Grant Towns, Hunter Dyer and  Mason Gunter were very impressive with a score of 419 in the event.  Mason Gunter led the squad to victory with a score of 92 and achieving his first 25 straight target hits in a competition.  Squad 2 equally had a strong opening day with squad members Jon Tucker, Kelsey Bullington, Kelsey Cook, Ryan Minchey and Eli Doss combining for a score of 452 earning them 1st place in their class.  Ryan Minchey led squad 2 with a score of 93.  Squad 1 closed out the competition earning 2nd place in class with an overall of 444.  Dalton Driver and Brock Rutan both scored 94 leading the squad to its 2nd place finish with Tyler Knight, Colton Kirby and David Richardson rounding out the squad.  Brock Rutan’s score of 94 also earned him 2nd place in the Junior Class D individual category.  Individually, Austin Mathews kicked off his season with a score of 91.
