Man Injured in Logging Accident

Ricky Hooten was logging on Driver Road, several miles outside of town, off the Galen Road. He went to top a tree that had been cut down, and another tree on the hillside fell on him. A member of the rescue squad said the other tree just simply uprooted and Ricky didn’t know what hit him.

Emergency personnel were called to carry Ricky out of the woods, load him in the ambulance and then transfer him to the waiting helicopter, which had landed in a nearby field.

Hooten, who lives in the Goosehorn area, was airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he was first listed in critical condition.
