Break-Ins & Vandalism Around Town

When Officer Garrett Flatt arrived, someone had tried to pry open the door but the double door secure locks located inside, kept them from gaining entry to the law firm.

“There has been a rash of break ins and vandalism around town,” said Detective Jason Roberts. “The Macon County Health Department was broken into a couple of weeks ago. But most recently was a break in at Tooley & Carver, where the culprits took a bag containing $2,500 in cash and checks.”

Roberts says a bicycle has been stolen, along with a go-cart, and they have also received reports of spray painting all in the same area of town. “I think teenagers might be involved in some of this activity, but I’m not sure.”

“If you see anything that doesn’t seem right, or anything odd please let us know. And if you see juveniles out past the 11:00 p.m. curfew, please call the Lafayette Police Department at 666-4725.”
