Crash Leaves Man in Vanderbilt Hospital

Investigating Trooper Gerald Carter said the wreck involved a white 2001 Chevy Cavalier  driven by Rigo Berto Conseco, age 28, and a red 1998 Ford F-150 truck, driven by Francisco Hernadez Avendano, age 37.

Trooper Carter told the Macon County Chronicle that the Chevy Cavalier was traveling westbound on Hwy. 52, while the Ford truck was traveling eastbound on 52. “The Cavalier crossed the center line, striking the truck in the eastbound lane,” said Carter. “Each vehicle had only one occupant.”

Carter said that Rigo Berto Conseco was seriously injured and was transported by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. The Red Boiling Springs Fire & Rescue set up a landing zone at Nestle Waters for the helicopter to pick him up. The driver of the pickup sustained minor injuries and was transported by EMS-ground to Macon County General Hospital.

Conseco is from Lafayette and Avendano from Red Boiling Springs.

Responders were: Tennessee Highway Patrol, Macon County Sheriffs Department, Macon County EMS, Red Boiling Springs Fire & Rescue, and the Macon County Chronicle.
