RBS Gets First Win of Season

RBS wins their home opener in a blowout victory over the Sales Creek Panther’s 47-6. It was a great victory for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs started with two good runs by Michael Tirjan and Dakota Dickens. With 11:30 left to go in the first quarter the Panthers recovered a RBS fumble. The Panthers drew first blood with a 25 yard touchdown pass to put them up 6-0 with 5:40 left to go in the first quarter. The Bulldogs would answer back on the next drive. Tirjan had a 56 yard kick return to the 30 yard line. A few plays later Dickens gets a 2 yard touchdown to put the Bulldogs up 7-6 with 2:20 left to go in the first quarter.

In the start of the 2nd quarter, the Bulldogs defense gets a turnover on downs to get the ball back. Tirjan would cap the drive off with a 10 yard run for a Bulldog touchdown to put the RBS up 13-6 with 5:41 left to go in the second quarter. The next defensive possession for the Bulldogs Justin Bergdorff gets a fumble recovery to give the Bulldogs the football back with great field position on the 10 yard line. On the next play Dickens takes a 10 yard carry in for a touchdown and they would convert the 2 pt conversion to go up 21-6 with 5:14 left to go in the second quarter. On the next possession Bulldog Eric Garcia gets a 60 yard interception return to the 35 yard line.  Two plays later, Dickens takes it in for a Bulldog touchdown to go up 28-6 with 2:03 left in the second quarter. The Bulldogs defense closed out the first half with a sack by Tyler Thompson with the score 28-6.

The Panthers started the 3rd quarter out good with few good runs but the Bulldogs defense got a turnover on downs at the 39 yard line. Tirjan would score on a 20 yard run to put the Bulldogs up 34-6 with 7:32 left in the 3rd quarter. The next defensive possession Garcia got his second interception of the game to give the Bulldogs the ball back on the 27 yard line. During the Bulldogs following drive, QB Elijah Byfield takes a 16 yard run in for a touchdown to put the Bulldogs up 41-6 with 6:14 left to go in the 3rd quarter. The next defensive possession Bergdorff gets a fumble recovery to give the Bulldogs the ball back on the 30 yard line. The next play Bergdorff takes it in to score to put the Bulldogs up 47-6 with 2:51 left to go in the 3rd quarter. On the next defensive possession Jacob Tirjan recovers a fumble to end the 3rd quarter.

The fourth quarter was uneventful. Red Boilings would close out the game and take home the victory by a final score of 47-6. Michael Tirjan had 10 carries for 136 yards and 2 tds, Dakota Dickens had 10 carries 84 yards and 3 tds, and Eric Garcia had two key interceptions.

Next week the Bulldogs will go on the road to play Gordonsville next friday September 6th.
