Daniel Lee Evans charged in August Meth Bust

altA man who was wanted by the Macon County Sheriffs Office for his involvement in the discovery of 29 Shake n Bake Meth Labs in August is now in custody after the Crestview, Florida authorities located 29-year-old Daniel Lee Evans.

He was transported back to Lafayette and jailed on drug charges.

As reported in the Macon County Chronicle last month an intensive investigation for methamphetamine manufacture was conducted at 297 Powell Road several weeks ago where 29 meth labs were found along with the necessary ingredients used to cook the drug.

At that time warrants were issued for two suspects responsible for the manufacture of methamphetamine.

One of the suspects, Deneshia Lynn Hoffman, age 28, of Lafayette, was arrested on August 13 by Officer J. Wilburn and charged with intent to manufacture methamphetamine (2 cts.), promotion of meth manufature, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a Schedule II drug. She was also charged with forgery by Officer R. Smith. Her bond was set at $160,000.

Evans, who was the other suspect, was charged with intent to manufacture methamphetamine, promotion of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a Schedule II drug on September 2 by Officer R. Smith and failure to appear, theft of property and forgery on September 3 by Officer P. Whitlow. His bond was set at $55,000. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, September 11.
