Sheriff’s Office Locks Up 911 Caller

According to Chief Deputy Bryon Satterfield, the Sheriffs Office was called to the scene of an alleged shooting that occurred at the residence of Michael Wayne Knight, on Green Grove Road. “After the Macon County Sheriffs’ deputies got to the scene they did recover a shot gun and a 9 mm pistol,” said Satterfield. “However, after an immediate search of the property no gun shot victims were found, which led to an investigation.”

Satterfield said after extensive interviews and evidence obtained at the scene, Knight did fire shots inside the residence while two small children were present.

“The Department of Children’s Services were immediately called and family members also responded to the scene for the care of the children,” added Satterfield.

Michael Wayne Knight was charged with two counts of reckless child endangerment and filing a false police report. He was locked up in the Macon County Jail. He is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on Wednesday, October 16.

Detective Donnie Crawford was the lead investigator with assistance from Chief Deputy Bryon Satterfield, Detective Daryl Taylor and several deputies.

First responders were the Macon County Sheriffs Office, Macon County EMS, and the Macon County Chronicle.
