My View from the Press Box – MCJH vs. Overton County Junior High
The Tigers fall to the Wildcats 44-30 last Thursday night in Livingston ending a 14 game win streak.
The Wildcats scored on the last play of the 1st qtr on a 2 yd TD run by Jared Bell. Hayes added the 2pt play, Wildcats led 8-0. Seth Carlisle answered on the next play with a 69 yard TD run. Carlisle hit Brawner for the 2pt conversion, tied at 8. 2 plays later Carter Hayes ran for a 48 yd TD run, 2pt play failed 14-8 Wildcats. The Tigers answer back with a 19 yd TD pass from Carlisle to Carson Brawner. The 2pt play failed, 14-14. Carlisle was picked off just before the half and Hayes scored on a 1 yard TD run then ran it in for the 2pt play, giving Livingston the halftime lead 22-14. Carlisle ran back the opening kick-off of the 2nd half 88 yards for the TD, Dillehay added the 2pt play to Tie the game 22-22. Midway through the 3rd qtr. Hayes gave the Wildcats the lead with a 3yd TD run and a 2pt conversion, 30-22. Tigers answer back with a 51 yard TD run and a 2pt play by Carlisle. Tied again 30-30. The Tigers gave up a couple of 4th qtr TD’s to Bell and Hayes in a 44-30 losing effort.
Passing: Carlisle 1/4/TD/2 int. Receiving: Brawner 1/19yds/TD. Rushing: Carlisle 8/184/2TD, Dillehay 7/17yds, Swindle 1/4yds. Trent Boles led the Defense with 9 tackles. Doyle 7 tackles; Dillehay and Carman 6 Tackles; Carlisle 5 Tackles; Brawner 4; Whittemore and Wilmore 3 each; Swindle, Carnahan and Russell 2 each; Dyer, Lamb and McGlothlin 1 each.
The Tigers 5-1, will return home this week to take on the Westmoreland Eagles at 6:30 Tuesday night. Come out and support the Tigers and “I’ll see you at the game.”
