My View from the Press Box – MCHS vs. Cannon County

The MCHS Tigers win Homecoming 38-6 over the Cannon County Lions for their 1st home win of the season and move to 2-4 overall and 2-1 in district 8AA standings.

Dalton Driver put the Tigers on the board with a 16yd TD run and Mason Doss added the PAT  with 4:37 left in the 1st, 7-0 Tigers.  Just before the half, Driver picked off a pass and returned it to the 10 yardline. 2 plays later Logan Grace scored on a 4 yd QB keeper, Doss’ PAT was good the Tigers led 14-0 at the half.  KJ Kitchens hammered in a 9 yd TD run with 4:01 left in the 3rd.  Doss added the extra point to make it 21-0.  Driver scored his 2nd TD of the game with 6:47 left in the 4th, on a 1yd run.  Pat was good by Doss, 28-0.  With 3:30 left in the game Doss nailed a 29 yard field goal to give the Tigers a 31-0 lead.  The Lions connected on a 55 yard TD pass with 2:57 left in the game, 31-6.  The Tigers answered back with a Brandon Harris 1 yd TD run. The PAT was good by Doss for the final score 38-6.

Passing: Grace 4 completions/17att/35yds.  Receiving:  Noles 4/35yds.  Rushing:  Driver 21/172yds/2TD, Kitchens 10/60yds/TD, Grace 8/-1yd/TD, Lowhorn 5/7yds, Harris 3/9yds/TD.   Kitchens led the Defense with 6 tackles.  Shawn Reagan 5; Graves, Partin, Harris and Swindle 4 each; Hafeli, A. Crawford and Raney 3 each; B. Crawford, St. Reagan, Simpson, Lowhorn and Coley 2 each.

The Tigers Travel to Baxter this week to take on district opponent Upperman.   The Bees are undefeated and are #1 in district 8AA.  Come out and support the Tigers and “I’ll see you at the game.”
