Clinton County beats Red Boiling Springs in Overtime

The Bulldogs of Clinton County, KY hosted Red Boiling Springs on week 7 of Tennessee high school football.

Clinton came away with a win in a thriller, 34-26.

The game didn’t begin well for RBS. Following a fumble at the RBS 10 yard line, Clinton took the lead 6-0 with 10:40 left. The first RBS possession would start off with plays by Josh Tirjan and Dakota Dickens. Michael Tirjan would score from two yards out and tie the game at 6-6 with 8:35 left in the first quarter. On the next RBS possession, Dickens would take it 35 yards for a touchdown to go up 14-6 with 2:57 left to go. Ben Bravo would come big for Red Boiling Springs making a tackle on 4th down to force a turnover on downs. After trading possessions, Clinton would eventually score and tie the game 14-14 to end the first half.

After trading possessions, Red Boiling Springs would drive late in the third. Following a 55 yard run by Dickens, Mason Hewitt catches a 7 yard pass from Dickens for a touchdown. RBS now leads 20-14 with 5:24 left in the third. Clinton answered right back with a 66 yard touchdown pass to tie the game 20-20 with 5:09 left in the 3rd. Red Boiling Springs would also answer on their next possession. Michel Tirjan runs it in from 15 yards to put the Bulldogs up 26-20 with 2:05 to go in the 3rd. Clinton would tie the game early in the 4th at 26-26.  Following a drive down to the Clinton 16 yard line, RBS would fumble with 6:47 left to go in the game. After seeing Clinton drive deep into RBS territory, Wesley Fleming and Quinton Goad come up with big plays as Clinton turns it over on downs at the RBS 7 with 1:20 to go. Regulation ends 26-26.

In the overtime period Clinton scores first and they would add the two point conversion. However, the Bulldogs would throw an interception on their possession and the ballgame would end with a final score of Clinton Co 34 RBS 26.

The players of the game were: Dakota Dickens with 18 rushes for 222 yards and one touchdown while throwing 2 for 2 for 42 yards and one touchdown. Michael TIrjan had 10 carries for 90 yards and 2 touchdowns. Wesley Fleming had 1sack and 2 tackles and Quinton Goad had 1sack and 3 tackles.

Red Boiling Springs will have a bye in week 8. They will be back in action on Friday October 25th hosting Pickett County for Homecoming.
