MCHS Falls to Upperman

Macon County traveled to Upperman to face the 6-0 Bees on Oct 11th.

The undefeated Bees currently are in 1st place in District 8 AA.

After trading possessions, Macon struck first on a 43 yard run by Dalton Driver. Mason Doss added the kick and MCHS led 7-0. Upperman would answer quickly going 55 yards in six plays in two minutes and nine seconds tying the game 7-7. The Bees would score on their next possession and lead 14-7 after one. Macon would put together a 12 play 35 yard drive which would consume seven minutes and thirty-five seconds. Mason Doss connects on a 32 yard field goal and the score was 10-14 with 5:09 left in the first half. However, the explosive and fast paced Upperman offense would tack on two more scores, one after a Macon fumble inside their own 5 yard line, to lead 28-10 at the half.

Upperman came out in the second half determined to assert their dominance. The Bees scored on three straight drives to lead Macon by a score of 49-10 at the end of the 3rd quarter. The Tigers were able to again mount a 9 play 65 yard drive, consuming 6:15 off the clock, for another score. Dalton Driver runs it in from 5 yards and KJ Kitchens adds a two point conversion to make the score 18-49 with 7:28 left in the game. Upperman would tack on one more score to defeat the Tigers by a final score of 55-18.

Dalton Driver had 61 yards on 20 attempts with 2 touchdowns. Kitchens had 36 yards on 12 carries and 1 two point conversion. Driver also led all tacklers with 8, Braxton Crawford and KJ Kitchens each had 7 tackles.

This week Macon County (2-5 overall, 2-2 8AA) will have their final home game of the 2013 season. They host the DeKalb County Tigers (5-2, 3-0 8AA) at Pat Parker Memorial Field with game time scheduled at 7 p.m.
