alt

The Red Boiling Springs Lady Bulldog Softball Team played a rare Softball game last Saturday as Communnity High School made the long trip up from Bedford County.

The Lady Vikings took home a very hard fought win by a final score of 5-4 scoring the winning run in the last inning on a Lady Bulldog error and a base hit to break a 4 all tie.

The Lady Bulldogs scored 2 runs in the first inning on base hits by Kristen Stacey and Olivia Atkins. Mckenzie Sadler and Shaylee Ellingson both scored to give the Lady Bulldogs a 2-0 lead which they kept until the bottom of the third inning when the Vikings scored 4 runs to take a 4-2 lead.

The next 2 innings the Lady Bulldogs mounted threats by leaving 4 base runners on the bases. The Lady Bulldogs failed to get the big hit until the 5th inning when they scored 2 runs on hits by Shanna Jones and Shaylee Ellingson sandwiched around a walk to tie the game at 4-4.

The Lady Bulldogs defense let them down in both innings where the Lady Vikings scored their runs. Unforced errors played a vital part in all 5 runs that the Community scored.

The Lady Bulldogs will be back in action tonight when The Lady Tigers from Gordonsville will visit the Dog Pound then the Lady Bulldogs hit the road to play Clay County before returning home to play Watertown.

The Lady Bulldogs are starting to play district games and those are the games that they need to win the most. Let’s hope the weather gives these girls a break because this team is going to win a lot of games this year.
