Rough Week for MCHS Baseball

The 2014 Tiger baseball team had a rough spring break, losing four games.


They played two games against Central Magnet and a double header against Friendship Christian.

On Monday the 31st District 8AA foe Central Magnet came to Lafayette. Hitting was at a premium as Daniel Ashburn and Hunter Williams collected the only hits. Johnny Brown gets the loss pitching 5 innings with 5 strikeouts and 5 walks. Brandon Noles pitched 2 innings of scoreless relief. Final Score Central 6 MCHS 0

On Tuesday the 1st the Tigers traveled to Murfreesboro for the return contest. Final for this game wasn’t much better. Central 7 MCHS 2. Austin Craighead and Clay Carnahan went 2 for 3 and Jacob Brown went 2 for 2 while Justin Woodard was credited with the only RBI. Craighead was the losing pitcher, going 5 innings with 7 strikeouts and 2 walks. Noles hurled one inning and allowed one run.

On Apr 3rd the Tigers hosted Friendship and made-up a game from March 26th in a double header. In the first game Justin Woodard pitched 6 innings with only one walk but gets credit for the loss. Kristopher Boone, Williams, Carnahan, and Jessie Gregory all go 1 for 3. Jacob Brown hits 1 for 2 and get both RBIs. Tigers couldn’t string all those hits together and lose by a final of 5-2.

The second game was more of the same. Hunter Williams is the pitcher of record who gets the loss, going 5 innings with 4 strikeouts and 5 walks. Boone collects the only RBI and Shane Whitefield, Carnahan, Gregory, Noles, and Jacob Brown all get credited with hits. Final Score FC 7 MCHS 1.

This week Macon County is set to play at York on the 7th, host York on the 8th, and play a double header at White House with Barren Co., KY and White House on Saturday the 12th.
