Lady Bulldogs Split Softball Games
The Red Boiling Springs Softball team returned to action last week and went on the road for 2 games.
They played Gordonsville and Monterey.
For those of you who do not follow softball very close in our High School program Gordonsville finished second in the class A State Tournament last year and they are on pace to make a return trip to try and win it all this year.
The Lady Bulldogs are in a rebuilding year and they are very young and not in the same class as Gordonsville is talent wise. The Lady Bulldogs failed to get a hit in this game and had only 1 base runner. Hannah Smith who was thrown out trying to steal second base thus Gordonsville’s pitcher faced the minimum batters in the 4 inning game called because of the run rule. As expected the Lady Tigerettes and Goodpasture will probably do battle for the top spot in the district. Final Gordonsville 14 RBS 0.
The Lady Bulldogs got back on the little Ice Cream Bus and headed out to Monterey to take on the Lady Wildcats last Friday night and they were in no mood to have a repeat of the previous night. The Lady Bulldogs jumped on Monterey early and often winning going away by a final score of 14-6.
Everyone in the Lady Bulldog lineup scored or had a big hit and drove in runs as The Lady Wildcats were no match in this game. Mackenzie Sadler pitched very well for the lady Bulldogs and along with a strong defensive performance by the Lady Bulldogs was able to keep the Lady Wildcats off stride and pick up the win for her effort.
The Lady Bulldogs will return to action this Monday night the 14th to take on the Lady Blue Devils from Jackson County in a non-district contest and then travel to Watertown on Tuesday night the 15th. There are only a couple of weeks left in the regular season so plan on attending a game and support your Lady Bulldogs.
