Bulldog Baseball Has Busy Week

The Red Boiling Springs Bulldogs played six games in six days this week, with two double- headers.


They capped the week with two wins.

On Monday, April 14th the Bulldogs travelled to Watertown. The Purple Tigers were just too much, plating 7 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning. Watertown went on to win 10-0. Brince Crouch had the only hit of the game and Chance Asberry was the pitcher of record.

On Tuesday the 15th Watertown came to RBS. It was a much more competitive game but had the same outcome. Watertown wins 11-0. Justin Bergdorf and Dustin Bergdorf collets the Bulldog hits. Cole Dziekiewicz went 2 innings giving up 4 runs on 6 hits and 1 walk. Asberry and Spencer Tuck came on in relief for the Bulldogs.

On Thursday the 17th Red Boiling hosted Pickett County for a double header. Mason Hewitt got the start in the first game. He gave up 3 earned runs on 4 hits and 4 walks with 6 strike-outs. Despite the Bulldogs out hitting the Bobcats 10-5, Hewitt took a 6-7 loss. Alix Mullinix went 3 for 3 and scored 2 runs for the bulldogs. Asberry, Crouch, Hewitt, Skyler Holden, Dustin Bergdorf, and Nick Deckard had the other hits for RBS.

They played a second game that didn’t go the Bulldogs’ way either. Pickett Co wins 7-0 as Brince Crouch gets the loss giving up 3 earned runs on 5 hits. Asberry and Deckard came on in relief. Crouch did go 2 for 2 at t he plate while Deckard and Bailey Chapman collected hits.

On Friday the 18th Monterey came to Red Boiling Springs for a double header. In the first game Asberry picks up a win, giving up 1 unearned run on 3 hits. Crouch goes 3 for 3 with 1 RBI while Deckard, Asberry, Dustin Bergdorf, Chapman, Spencer Tuck, and Skyler Holden all string along hits to grab a 4-1 victory for the Bulldogs.

In the second game, the Bulldog held off a late rally to take the win 9-6. Cole Dziekiewicz gets credit for the win, going 4 2/3 innings giving up 3 earned runs on 6 hits with 5 strikeouts. Asberry came on in relief. Justin Bergdorf went 3 for 3 while Crouch went 2 for 3 and had 3 RBIs. Dziekiewicz also helped his own cause by going 2 for 3 from the plate as well.

This week the Bulldogs are scheduled for games at Clinton Co, KY on the 21st of April, another doubleheader with Pickett Co in the 22nd, a home game against Clarkrange on the 24th, and a road game against Monroe Co, KY on the 25th.
