alt

The Macon County High School Tigerettes made a deep run in the District 8AA Tournament.

They played 5 games in 5 days and fell just short of heading to region play.

On May 1st they played Central Magnet in Murfreesboro. In a high scoring contest the Tigerettes fell just short, losing 11-16 in seven innings. Mary Belton went 1 for 4 with 4 RBIs and a home run while Brandi Garmon went 2 for 4 and scored one run. Paige Clark was credited with the win.

Now in the loser’s bracket, it was win and advance. On Friday May 2nd Macon faced Smith County. The Lady Owls faced a Tigerette tem whose bats were on fire. Clark went 3 for 3 and scored 3 runs and was credited with the shutout win. Clara Howser also had a good day, going 4 for 4 with 2 RBIs. Macon wins 14-0 in four innings.

The Tigerettes would face Cannon County on Monday May 5th. In a nip-and-tuck game Macon plated the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning, winning 6-5. Brandi Garmon went 3 for 5 and Howser went 2 for 4 and scored the winning run. Clark was the pitcher of record and gets credit with the win.

Saturday May 6th was play-and-stay day. First the Tigerettes played Livingston. The red hot bats that the Tigerettes were wielding seemed to cool a bit. However Macon still did score 4 runs on 7 hits for the win. Jenna Russell was 2 for 3 while Howser, Belton, Clark, and Sarah Carter scored runs. Final score Macon 4 Livingston 2. Clark gets the win.

Upperman would face the Tigerettes for the second time in a week. The Lady Bees won the earlier game 2-0. Both hits and runs were at a premium in this contest. Upperman scored the winning run in the 9th inning to win 1-0 over Macon. Morgan Turner, Mackenzie Mercer, Jordan Shockley, and Clark got the only hits of the day. Final score Upperman 1 Macon 0. Brandi Garmon was the pitcher of record.

The Macon Tigerettes finish the season placing 3rd in the District 8AA Tournament. They had a good competitive season and were fun to watch. A huge “Thanks” goes out to Mrs. Audrey Howser for helping with the stats this season. Hopefully Macon can make another run next season.
